Bio

Jerome Blazé is Sydney’s sonic architect. Between working as a producer and songwriter, teaching popular music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and touring as a keyboard player, Jerome Blazé’s many musical outlets feed his own prolific and singular musical output.

His eclectic solo project refracts electronic, soul and neoclassical through birdsong and golden hour sunlight.

Growing up in the picturesque Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia, Blazé spent his adolescence learning how to produce, virtual crate digging and soaking up his secluded natural surroundings.

After moving to Sydney to study music, Blazé began working as a producer outside of his own music, gathering credits for Nick Ward, FRIDAY*, Odette, Thandi Phoenix, Paul Mac and commercial work for Louis Vuitton and Melbourne Fashion Week.

At the same time, he was building skills in jazz and classical arranging and building a community of talented instrumentalists to collaborate on his own music and live show.

Following his 2020 EP ‘Open, A Home’, his 2022 debut album ‘Giver’ garnered the support of Triple J, Triple J Unearthed and FBi Radio, cementing the artist as a unique voice in the Australian music scene.

Blazé sold out his debut headline show at The Vanguard with his distinctive live setup combining a wind trio, improvisation, group vocals and live sampling/ electronics. Later in 2022, Blazé helped to lead a sold out collaborative show between Sydney folk-adjacent artists Sarah Levins, Oliver Beard and Ivy-Jane Browne.

Alongside his own live show, Blazé has also been pursuing work as a touring musician, notably touring the US with Australian artist Ngaiire and accompanying her performance at the Sydney Opera House alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

2023 saw Blazé tour the US with Ngaiire, release a double A-side - Waking Up b/w Paddington 2 - and perform two fully allocated shows at Phoenix Central Park.

‘The palette of sounds he access is uniquely his’

Tommy Faith, Sound Doctrine

‘Not sure whether I'm most impressed with your ambition to make something so grand and explorative...or that you've got the talent to realise that ambition.

Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J

'This reminds me of some of the beautiful folktronica/electronica from the 00's in the best of ways. Lush production with real heart'
